OVERVIEW OF CONTENT
When you enter Phonicszone, you are given 2 options:

English as a foreign language
English as a
Foreign Language
This area supports the LETTERS AND SOUNDS phonics programme in the UK. LETTERS AND SOUNDS is published by the “Primary National Strategy” and aims at enabling children to start learning phonic knowledge and skills systematically by the age of five with the expectation that they will be fluent readers; having secured word recognition skills by the end of Key Stage 1 (age of seven).
This area supports the teaching of phonics for EFL learners around the world. The approach to phonics is essentially synthetic and after developing letter recognition skills, it focuses on the 44 phonemes of the English language, linking each phoneme to possible graphemes through a bank of relevant key-words.
However, whether you are looking for phonic resources to use in the UK or around the world, we strongly recommend that you explore both areas of PhonicsZone.
